Opening Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, Help me to see that my faith is not about what I appear on the outside but what is deep in my heart. Forgive me for the times I have tried to be more holy, done things for You and appeared spiritual, thinking that I could earn Your love. Help me be a faithful disciple and rest in Your love. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen

Devotion
This is one of the few texts that we witness the anger of Jesus. Anger is not typically an emotion that we naturally attribute to Jesus, but Jesus was angry. Jesus is passionate about the proclamation of the gospel and He is angry at hardened closed hearts. Jesus, the healer, has made considerable impact on the public, He is developing a following and many have travelled a great distance to see Him. Many want to be healed. Jesus calls the disciples and Jesus calls us. He gives us a gospel message to proclaim and the power to proclaim it. But are we passionate about proclaiming the gospel? Do we take our place as proclaimers of the good news?
Intercessory Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, We pray for our churches and especially for pastors and ministers. Many feel discouraged and are ready to give up. Let them find assurance in their ministry and their purpose, and may they see themselves increasingly as sons and daughters of God and not just servants. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen
